Some Road Trip Stats

As I was reflecting on my road trip my first week back, I did some calculating to figure out how many miles I had driven. Then I became curious about a whole bunch of other random things like the total amount spent on gas or how many miles I hiked, etc. I started adding them up for fun. Here are some of my findings about my road trip.

  • 1 is the number of countries driven through. Seriously, the US is a HUGE country where you can drive thousands of miles, see all kinds of people and landscapes and still be in the same, beautiful country.
  • 1 is also the number of audiobooks I listened to. I listened to Ordinary Grace, and I loved it.
  • 2 is the number of times I’ve driven across the country
  • 3 is the number of bags of cheese sticks I left in hotel mini fridges across the country. I should NOT have invested in that persnickety Sargento stuff. Next time I’ll skip a step and simply leave money in the fridge.
  • 3 is also the average amount of trips I took when I was taking my luggage into the hotel room. I didn’t want to risk my car getting broken into with all of my worldly possessions inside of it.
  • 5 is the number of state parks visited. I can’t remember the names of all of them.
  • 5 is also the number of loved ones visited. I can’t remember the names of all of these either. (Just kidding, but I do talk about ALL of them at least once each in my road trip blogs!)
  • 6 is the number of national parks visited. My favorites were Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. They were incredible!
  • 12 is the number of nights I spent in a hotel
  • 12 is also the number of states I drove through (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida)
  • 13 is the number of nights spent at friend’s houses
  • 18 is the number of times I stopped for gas
  • 504.98 is the dollar amount I spent on gas
  • 29 is how many miles I hiked. It was so cool and so fun.
  • 40 is the number of Twizzlers eaten mindlessly
  • 88 is the number of Red Vines eaten mindlessly
  • 3,140 is the number of calories mindlessly eaten in those Twizzlers and Red Vines
  • 500 dollars is the approximate amount I spent on food
  • 4,108.7 is the total number of miles driven
